Vinted Shoppers Share Anger Regarding Sizing Modifications
Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to products showing incorrect sizing.
The second-hand shopping app has updated its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes without notifying all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Reaction
Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display an altered size classification than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.
The company said the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.
The platform has recommended to review their products and update the measurements by hand when needed, which has left users frustrated.
Measurement Approach Changes
Earlier, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L was previously a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
User Experiences
One content creator, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Another user, from Glasgow, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were appearing on the platform as size 20–22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she stated.
Manual Updates
Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizing for "all her products".
"This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and platform income has been essential for me since losing part of my income," she explained.
Marketplace Information
The platform boasts over 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has proved a popular alternative compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, the service retracted a modification regarding delivery choices due to shopper criticism.
