Ten individuals sentenced of cyber-bullying against Brigitte Macron

A court in Paris has ruled against ten people for perpetrating the online harassment of Brigitte Macron, the wife of French President, Emmanuel Macron.
The those on trial faced allegations of disseminating fabrications regarding her gender identity and sexuality, in addition to publishing hurtful comments about the couple's significant age difference.
The court issued suspended jail terms of up to eight months to the perpetrators. The full ruling has not yet been published.
A circulating false narrative claiming that Brigitte Macron is a trans woman has existed since her husband's initial election in 2017.
This latest legal outcome in France coincides with the Macrons engaging in a legal action for defamation in the United States against right-wing influencer Candace Owens, who has also voiced analogous false narratives about the first lady's identity.
Their legal filing alleges that Owens disregarded any factual proof disproving her claim in favour of give a platform to established defamers.
Owens has often echoed these allegations on her show and social media channels, and in March 2024 stated that she would stake her entire professional reputation on her conviction that Mrs. Macron is biologically male.
Brigitte Macron first met her future husband when she was a teacher at his secondary school.
The two married in 2007, when the future French president was 29 and she was approximately 54 years old.
